Dr. Ambedkar was born into a Dalit Mahar family on April 14, 1891, in Mhow, India.In the Indian army, his father served as an officer.

His community and schoolmates from higher castes often discriminated against him as a child. He was able to complete his education thanks to a scholarship from the Gaekwad of Baroda, and after studying economics and law in London and New York, he opened a law office in Bombay.

He quickly rose to prominence among Dalits, started multiple newspapers on their behalf, and was successful in getting them special representation in the government's legislative councils. He authored What Congress and Gandhi Have Done to the Untouchables to refute Mahatma Gandhi's assertion that he spoke for Dalits (or Harijans, as Gandhi referred to them) (1945).

Ambedkar famously said to Dalits something that bears immense importance even today – “Educate, Agitate, and Organise”.. .

He placed a lot of focus on education, especially in areas where it was traditionally denied. In fact, it is well known that he once declared that for the poor, education was more important than Temple entrance. He believed that education was a powerful tool that could equally empower every citizen to create an egalitarian society and to aid in removing the long-standing societal practises of discrimination.

Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, or Babasaheb, is known as the chief architect of the Indian Constitution. He passed away on December 6, 1956, and his death anniversary is observed as Mahaparinirvan Diwas in the country. Ambedkar’s visionary thinking and contributions established the social and legal foundation of the Republic of India.
