One of the most significant Hindu holidays, Ganesh Chaturthi, commemorates the birth of Lord Ganesha, the god of wisdom and wealth. To fulfil their aspirations and to solve their difficulties, people worship Lord Ganesha and ask for his heavenly blessings.

Depending on the moon cycle, Ganesh Chaturthi is either around late August or early September. The following 10 days are dedicated to festival celebrations. Months of planning go into this holy celebration, and on the day of the festival, exquisitely made statues of Ganesha are set up on elevated platforms in homes or on festive outside podiums for passersby to admire and offer respect.

Special festivals and prayers are also held at Ganesha temples. Ganesha is treated and cared for like a beloved guest in the homes of those who have one of his statues.

The idols of Ganesha are immersed in surrounding lakes, rivers, or the sea on the final day of Ganesh Chaturthi while being paraded through the streets amid dancing, upbeat drumbeats, devotional songs, and exploding firecrackers.
