Vikram-S: India’s first Rocket launched 18 Nov 22

A suborbital spacecraft called Vikram-S is being built by the for-profit business Skyroot Aerospace. One of the first few all-composite rockets in the world using solid 3-D printed thrusters for the launch vehicle's spin stability is the Vikram-S.

Up to this point, 526 crores have been raised for Skyroot Aerospace. The company is working toward a time when "space becomes part of us" and intends to "open space for all."The mission would be launched from the propulsion centre where sounding rockets were used by ISRO. "This is a small rocket and instead of those big ones, this centre were sounding rockets were used by ISRO.

By expanding its mission to make spaceflights accessible, dependable, and regular for everyone, it seeks to dismantle entry barriers to cost-effective satellite launch services and spaceflight, according to the statement.

With its establishment in 2018, Skyroot has made use of cutting-edge composite and 3D printing technology to successfully construct and test India's first privately manufactured cryogenic, hypergolic-liquid, and solid fuel-based rocket engines.

The payloads will be launched into an orbit with a low inclination of roughly 500 kilometres by the Vikram-S launch vehicle. According to the business, the technology architecture of the Vikram launch vehicle offers special capabilities like multi-orbit insertion and interplanetary missions, as well as customised, dedicated, and ride-share options, to meet a variety of small satellite customers' needs.

When first Rocket launched in India?

Indian spaceport Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station (TERLS) was founded on November 21, 1963. It is run by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and is situated in Thumba, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, which is quite close to the magnetic equator and is very close to the southernmost point of Indian territory. Currently, ISRO uses it to launch sounding rockets.

How is a space rocket made?

The structural structure, or frame, is comparable to an airplane's fuselage. The frame often uses long "stringers" that run from top to bottom and are connected to "hoops" that run around the circumference. It is manufactured from very strong yet lightweight materials, such as titanium or aluminium.

What kind of Material is used for rockets?

The lightest possible rocket must be able to resist the enormous forces experienced during launch. Most rockets employ titanium or aerospace-grade aluminium for the primary frame since both materials are robust but lightweight. Future rocket designs might possibly incorporate carbon composite materials. But at the high reentry temperatures, aluminium melts. Because silica fibres are excellent insulators, they are used to make heat shield tiles for rockets that must return to Earth (like the Space Shuttle). The efficacy of these fibres is then increased by coating them with glass.
